15 Rules Every Walgreens Coupon-Shopper Needs to Know

Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Saturday and I hope you had a beary safe and great week. Dab the AIDS Bear is off and running at more events this weekend so stay tuned for more new pictures soon.

Walgreens is arguably one of the top three stores in the country for coupon-shoppers, or ‘couponers’. Each week, TheKrazyCouponLady.com posts freebies, moneymakers and numerous deals with savings over 60% on name brand razors, shampoo, deodorant, laundry detergent, and snacks, to name a few!

But Walgreens coupon policy and coupon rules are almost certainly the most confusing of any store in the nation. Between Balance Rewards, Register Rewards, monthly coupon booklets, and in-ad coupons, your head will be spinning before you even think about adding our printable manufacturer coupons to the mix.

Before you step foot in the drugstore this week, watch our latest video to learn the 15 rules we think every shopper should master before couponing at Walgreens!

RULE 1 | STACK COUPONS

Use a Walgreens weekly in-ad coupon, Walgreens monthly booklet coupon, and manufacturer coupon together on one item.

RULE 2 | SIGN UP FOR A BALANCE REWARDS CARD

You need a Balance Rewards account to get all the sale prices and deals. Enter your phone number every time you shop.

RULE 3 | STOCK UP ON POINTS DEALS

You CAN earn multiple Balance Rewards Points from the same promotion in a single transaction. There is not a limit on how many times you can receive Points from the same promotion.

RULE 4 | DON’T STOCK UP ON REGISTER REWARD DEALS

Don’t try to earn more than one of the same Register Reward in a single transaction. You can only earn one Register Reward per offer, per transaction. Remember, Register Rewards are not linked to your Balance Reward card. You can earn them repeatedly, but only if you separate your transactions.

RULE 5 | DON’T “ROLL” REGISTER REWARDS

While we’re at it. Don’t attempt “rolling” Register Rewards for the same offer. If you use a $2.00 Colgate Register Reward to pay for Colgate the second time around, you won’t receive the second identical Colgate Register Reward.

RULE 6 | KNOW EXPIRATION DATES

Register Rewards expire in two weeks, but Balance Rewards Points last up to three years.

RULE 7 | MEET MINIMUM SPEND

In a Spend $20, Receive 5000 points promotion, you must spend the minimum in one transaction.

RULE 8 | DON’T EXPECT CASH BACK

RULE 9 | ONLY USE ONE COUPON ON A BOGO

Do not use a manufacturer coupon that is higher in value than the selling price of the item. Do not use a coupon on a free item in a BOGO free promo. The Walgreens coupon policy prohibits either practice. The days of using a $3.00 coupon to get a $2.99 item for free are gone. #$%@!

RULE 10 | TOTAL COUPONS CANNOT EXCEED TOTAL ITEMS

Do not use more manufacturer coupons AND Register Rewards to pay than products in your transaction. If you find that you want to use more coupons than products, add “filler items” to your transaction.

RULE 11 | REDEEM POINTS IN SET INCREMENTS

You must redeem Points in specified increments: 1,000 Points = $1.00. 2,000 Points = $2.00. 3,000 Points = $3.00. 5,000 Points = $5.00. 10,000 Points = $10.00. 18,000 Points = $20.00. 30,000 Points = $35.00. 40,000 Points = $50.00.

RULE 12 | YOU WILL NOT EARN POINTS WHEN REDEEMING POINTS

RULE 13 | YOU WILL EARN POINTS WHEN REDEEMING REG REWARDS

RULE 14 | YOU WILL EARN REG REWARDS WHEN REDEEMING POINTS

RULE 15 | YOU WILL NEED TO WATCH THIS VIDEO TO UNDERSTAND

Hope these tips help you stretch your budget and have a beary safe and great Saturday!

Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope, happiness and just enough.

big bear hug,
