Got up this morning and got ready for the World AIDS Week Committee meeting even though all I wanted to do was crawl back under the covers and go back to sleep. Why is it that I always want to sleep when I have somewhere that I have to go but when I don't I can't sleep. Hmmmmm....
I rode with Beth to the meeting and we talked about Rev. Gary DeBusk on the way. Unfortunately, Gary's chemotherapy didn't stop the tumor on his brain so his condition is now terminal. It so sad. He is such a great sweet man. I've had the honor of knowing him since I moved to Jacksonville from West Hollywood, CA. I've never heard him say the first unkind word about anyone.
After we got to the meeting, we spoke with the assistant pastor of the church and were filled in on the latest details. Gary is now on morphine and bed bound. It's just a matter of days. It just tears me up. His church congregation is understandably distraught.
We finally got the meeting underway. Everything is gearing up for the week of events. Last minute details to be handled of course, but everyone is pitching in and getting it done. Now that the checking account is at NFAN at least it gives us easier access. The only problem was no air conditioning in the church. It was so hot I thought I was going to pass out.
Beth gave me a ride home and we talked about her vacation to Europe that begins on Thursday. She is going to have such a great time. Wish I could stow away in her luggage. She will be gone for about 10 days.
By the time I got hime, it was time to take a nap. Ended up sleeping for about 4 hours. Then it was time to get up and spend some time with the animals. Took them outside and decided to be lazy and order a pizza for dinner.
Watched one of the few shows on television that I think it worth the time... Dancing With the Stars... I know... I know... it's a little hokey but I like it. It has a lot of the stars that were very popular when I was growing up. So it appeals to the kid in me.
Hope that you had a great day.
Big bear hug,
