Welcome to my Friday! I have made it through another work week!
And what a week it has been. What with being asked by my government to assume $700 billion dollars of wall street and financial debt of toxic loans. Credit is harder to get along with mortgages. If you're trying to sell your house, well good luck since they are staying on the market for an average of a year now and selling for 20 percent less than last year. Whatever you do, do not look at the balance of your 401K plan either. If you thought your stock accounts were looking bad, well you have another things coming to you. If you are a small business owner, I hope you do not need a credit or a loan for payroll, supplies or equipment. There may soon be only four banks across the country since more long term financial institutions are closing by the day. So now we have to wait until Sunday or Monday until our elected officials decided who and how much we will all be further in debt. What's that you ask? No, I do not think we get anything out of the package except to keep our jobs supposedly so we can make the same people rich all over again. Can anyone say socialism?
I will get off my soapbox now. I did have a great time at the NFAN HIV community luncheon today. It is always great seeing Donna, Beth and the rest of the gang from NFAN not to mention running into friends from the community. As usual, I gave a project business card to the sponsors of this month's luncheon and got their picture with Dab the AIDS Bear which have already been added to the opening page graphics. Today's meal was made by Sonny's BBQ and was a huge spread for everyone. There was a large turnout with roughly 100 people which is a lot for this time of year. Just one more sign of how much people are having to budget and take advantage of things available to them. Our main speaker gave an excellent overview of HIV pharm care and I found out she has been helping people with HIV and AIDS since the late 80s. I shared my story with her and we walked down memory lane of the dark days of HIV and the friends we both lost.
Afterward, I walked the few blocks to the library so I could return my two books on photography. I had finished the one on photographing people but had not had a chance to read the second one. I will be too busy the next couple of weeks to read it so I will wait until the middle of next month to check it out again. I like to look them over and then decide which ones to purchase for my personal library. Then I walked the few blocks to Park & King which is like main street in our neighborhood. The other shopping point being 5 Points. I went by Walgreen's to get a beard trimmer but they were out of stock which I was surprised. Oh well I will have to order one online or go to WalMart. Then I walked the several blocks back to the house since it was such a nice day outside with high's in the upper 70s and sunny.
Tonight, Gary and I ended up ordering oriental from 5 points and they left out my lo mein noodles which kinda pissed me off since I had ordered them a la carte. The egg roll did not taste right either. But my garlic broccoli was pretty good if slightly overcooked. Since I did not feel like cooking I guess I should not be complaining. Gary has been working a lot so he did not feel like cooking either. We ended up watching the Presidential Debate coverage and I know who appeared to have dominated the debate in my eyes. But let me know what you think. Did the debate change your mind or are you still voting for the same person? Inquiring minds want to know.
Now it's late and time to head off to bed. I hope you have a safe and great weekend. Make a special memory for yourself this Saturday or Sunday.
Wishing you health, hope and happiness.
Big bear hug,
