Product Description

It has been brought to my attention that the local organization in charge of setting policy for Ryan White Title I funds for the county where I live are trying to institute a 5 percent of total income copay for people with Medicare D to receive their HIV life saving medications.

People who are not eligible for Medicaid and on Medicare Part D without Private Insurance will have to pay 5 percent of their income every month up to $1500 (meaning you make over $30K a year) toward getting their medications.

I'm sorry. I feel this is not socially irresponsible but morally wrong. Instead of this organization getting in there and working to get more funding, they are putting part of the HIV community at risk. Some of these people will not get medications because they will have to choose between shelter and medication... between eating and medication... I've already seen the results when this has been tried in parts of the US with much few cases of HIV infections.

This will end up being a disaster for persons already struggling to provide themselves quality health care in their war with HIV and AIDS.

For those of you that read this blog, I urge you to contact your local and national political representatives and let them know that you as an American will not stand by as your brother and sisters die without life saving medications.

The day may come when you need someone to stand up for you. Please help save financially challenged brothers and sisters and enable them to receive life saving health care.

Wishing all of you health, peace and happiness,

Big bear hug,

Daddy Dab
