Today is our monthly HIV community luncheon which is provided by Northeast Florida AIDS Network (NFAN). This group of individuals are consistently working to help our HIV community with services and emergency financial needs.
Our luncheons are held at a church center. I've been working very hard to make sure that all persons from my community know that these luncheons are offered to them. There is usually a guest speaker who provides information for better quality of health among other HIV issues.
Today I was asked to speak to the community. Originally I was going to be speaking about the project and our services. Due to attempted changes in my area with Title 1 funding, I focused more on what is going on with our community funding for health care.
I also met 2 great women with qualities that would benefit this project. They are leaders in fund raising and children HIV care. I look forward to working with them. They will be a great addition to our team.
I also spoke to an old friend who is an accomplished artist about joining the project. Jeremy would be a great asset to our goals with his talents and knowledge of HIV.
Over the weekend I will be speaking about what is being attempted that would have my community here in Jacksonville. I know that this is also taking place throughout the country as I type this from meetings I attend while in Washington DC every month for clinical trial studies.
Wishing all of you health and happiness,
Big bear hug,
