Start of a New Month
Welcome to another day in my life. Today is Tuesday and I hope you are having a safe and great week so far.
I am playing catch up this week before my next trip. So my days are hectic with doing that and going to meetings. I also had a few errands to run today. Unfortunately it was raining most of the day which I could have done without. Do not like driving in the rain at all.
With all the appearances Dab the AIDS Bear and I have scheduled for the next few months, I have to get my rest during the days off while I also try to keep things caught up and do all the things I do here locally. Luckily, I have great friends who remind me to get my rest.
Had to make several calls today to remind people about calling Secretary of Health Sebelius and their elected officials on 9/11 to help get Ryan White funding extended. Hopefully we will have over 100,000 calls going in that day. I hate to think of the number of needless deaths that will happen to financially challenged American men, women and children without Ryan White funding. The funding expires on September 30, 1999 so we have less than a month left and still no action on it in Washington, DC.
I did see the 2005 reunion of the cast of Happy Days. The show brought back a flood of memories for me. Happy Days was on from 1972 - 1983. For me, that time person represents my junior high, high school and college years. It is also the time period I found out I was infected with the HIV virus and lost my first partner. So I have a lot of different emotions tied to the time period. They showed a scene where Fonzi cries and makes a deal with God to keep Richie alive. It eerily reminded me of my first partner being in the hospital while dying. The difference being I did not get my wish.
But let me get off the morbid tone. Directly after they showed the 2005 reunion of the cast of Laverne and Shirley which was another favorite show. Great seeing the casts of both shows in the reunion. It seemed somehow appropriate to see the reunions since I have recently reunited with some member of my graduating class at Pensacola Catholic High School after losing touch for almost thirty years. Our thirty year reunion is next July and I am hoping to be able to make it depend on my schedule and AARP. After all, it is a midterm election year and I am sure they will keep me hopping during the campaigning.
Had a couple of great talks with friends late this evening. But more about that later. Headed to bed soon because I have another day of meetings and catching up tomorrow.
Until we meet again; here's wishing you health, hope and happiness.
big bear hug,
